Job Details

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operating Costco's global wired and wireless networks. They provide local and remote network access, routing, switching, DNS, firewall, global WAN, cloud transit, and load balancing services to Costco locations including the data centers, warehouses, campregional offices, manufacturing and distribution facilities.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

Translates technical requirements into low level network designs.

Configures and maintains physical and virtual network infrastructure such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

Ensures seamless integration of network services with cloud and on-premises environments.

Troubleshoot and resolve network performance and security issues.

Implements monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the reliability and availability of cloud and network infrastructure.

Analyzes performance metrics and provides recommendations for improvements.

Works closely with IT teams to support application deployments and infrastructure requirements.

Provides mentorship and technical guidance to Junior Engineers.

Develops and maintains automated network deployment and management systems using tools like Ansible, Terraform, etc.

Automates infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Maintains up-to-date documentation of cloud and network architectures, configurations, and processes.

Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.

Travels occasionally for on-site engineering or training.

Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:

5 years working with a variety of networking and routing tools such as Linux, Cisco IOS, Junos OS, BGP, EIGRP, etc.

1 years experience in Python, Go, or similar language.

Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
Recommended:

Experience with network automation/development.

Experience in Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure networking.

Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
