Description

SAIC Office of Security is currently seeking a Part-Time Intern to support the, District of Columbia, Location Operations. The role of a Security Analyst Intern is to assist with day-to-day security functions when the Primary FSO or AFSO is not available to coordinating the activities of a team responsible for ensuring the security and safety of an organization's assets, personnel, and information. As a Security Analyst Intern, you will learn to be responsible for assisting in leading and managing a team of security professionals. This includes setting goals, assigning tasks, providing guidance and support, and evaluating team performance. You will learn to be responsible for assisting in developing and implementing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the organization's assets and mitigate risks. This involves conducting risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and designing security protocols. In the event of security incidents or emergencies, you will learn to assist the team in responding effectively and efficiently. This includes coordinating with relevant stakeholders, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Overall, the role of a Security Analyst Intern is to assist in providing leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure the organization's security posture is robust and aligned with industry best practices. This is a paid internship opportunity.

This position is 100% onsite in Washington, DC

Typical Responsibilities:
  • You will learn/assist in oversee the day-to-day security operations, including physical security measures, access control systems, surveillance systems, and security patrols. This involves learning compliance with security protocols and standards.
  • You will learn how to collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to address security concerns, provide security awareness training, and promote a culture of security within the organization.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for conveying security policies, procedures, and updates to the team and other stakeholders.
  • You will be assisting in identifying potential security risks and implementing risk mitigation strategies. This includes learning security audits, evaluating security technologies, and staying updated on emerging security threats and trends.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College/University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must be willing to be available during core work hours to uphold our commitment to continuous operational readiness, which includes providing SAIC a mechanism for which to contact you.
  • Security Analyst Intern is a Part-Time, on-site Security position. Flexible schedules are available on a case-by-case basis with supervisor approval.
  • Candidate must be willing to provide on-site support commensurate with the duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
  • A basic understanding of the design and execution of security programs in accordance with 32 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) Part 117/NISPOM.
  • Ability to manage time, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions with guidance.
  • A High degree of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • A sense of confidence to coordination with multiple entities related to the active programs with Department of Energy, Customs & Border Patrol, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation, Defense Information Systems Agency, US Air Force & US Navy.

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
