Department Statement:
The Management Intern is part of a one Career Services team model that provides a variety of career advice and career services to a diverse student and alumni population and through every step of the career & professional development process. Career Services serves ASU students and alumni through engagement opportunities tailored to their unique talents, experiences, academic preparation and professional goals. Our focus is to ensure Career Readiness as defined by the National Association of Colleges & Employers: Career Readiness is the attainment and demonstration of requisite competencies that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the workplace. We help them succeed at every step of their career development process from learning about majors and career options, to finding an internship or first job out of college. We offer professional career advice and are a valuable resource for job outlook, salary and employment trend information. Our office works through a career development model focused on career interests. This Career Interest Community model allows students to break out of the confines of viewing career opportunities based solely on college majors and opens the door to a larger variety of post-graduation options. This model influences our career & professional development curriculum as well as our engagement with employers.
Career Services provides commensurate programs, services, and resources at all four Phoenix area locations, as well as ASU Online. Staff work collaboratively with CS leadership and staff at each location, and as part of the Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) Vice Presidential area. EOSS provides the ASU student community with support services, involvement opportunities and a rich Sun Devil experience to assist students in achieving their personal and academic goals. Members of the ASU community aspire to live the Sun Devil Way, creating and sustaining a community that exemplifies achievement, engagement and responsibility.

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Data Analytics and AI management Intern to join the ASU Career Services team. This management internship will provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in the field of data analysis, business intelligence, and management information. As an intern, you will work closely with the Career Services Data Analyst to support key data-driven decision-making processes, helping to transform raw data into actionable insights.
This is a 20 hour per week position, and may include some nights and weekends, with flexible days and hours based on programming needs. This Internship program is a short term-position of a 12-month experience or less. An additional one-year extension may be offered contingent upon an annual review. Candidate is required to be enrolled in a Graduate Program during the duration of employment and continuation of employment will be based on enrollment in a Graduate Program.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Researching AI tools for use in ASU Career Services to help meet the needs of currently enrolled students, alumni, faculty and staff.
- Assist with the evaluation of any pilot programs involving the use of AI
- Data Entry and Cleaning: Input data into relevant databases or spreadsheets and perform basic cleaning tasks, such as removing duplicates, correcting errors, and formatting data.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing data sets using statistical methods, data visualization tools, or software.
- Reporting: Help prepare reports, presentations, or dashboards summarizing key findings, insights, and trends discovered from the data analysis.
- Data Visualization: Create visualizations, such as charts, graphs, and diagrams, to effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib.
- Data Maintenance: Support ongoing data maintenance tasks, such as updating databases, ensuring data accuracy, and performing regular backups.
- Documentation: Document data processes, methodologies, and findings to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to understand project requirements, provide updates, and align efforts.
- Problem-solving: Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues, identifying root causes, and proposing solutions to improve data quality, efficiency, or effectiveness.
- Ad hoc Tasks: Perform additional tasks or projects assigned by supervisors based on the organization's needs and your skill level.
Desired Qualifications:
- Must be an enrolled graduate student registered at Arizona State University
- Must be in and maintain good academic standing with both ASU and degree-specific college.
- Must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher throughout time of employment.
- Ability to work 20 hours per week
- Completed undergraduate degree in Business Data Analytics
- Enrolled in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics masters degree programs
- Prior experience being involved as a student leader at Arizona State University
- Passion for data and its applications in business.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (Tableau, SQL, etc) and ability to adapt to new technologies and tools.
- Prior experience that shows a strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines
- Evidence of ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic, initiative and problem solving ability.
- Able to work effectively in a team, taking on responsibilities and assisting colleagues as needed.
- Self-motivated with a keen desire to learn and develop professionally.
Working Environment:
- Must be enrolled in a Graduate Program during the course of employment
- Adhering to Career Services office dress code.
- Lifting and carrying materials, as well as, pulling and pushing carts of up to 30 lbs.
- Additional movement requirements include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
- Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard
- Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data
Salary: $20.75 per hour
