Job Overview:
The Windows System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and managing Windows-based systems with an emphasis on legacy applications and processing environments. This role requires ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of the organization's critical operations that rely on older technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management: Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and related infrastructure deployed to the field and in an on-site computer lab.
  • Support Legacy Applications: Manage and support legacy applications, ensuring they remain functional and effective despite outdated technologies.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues, particularly in environments running legacy applications, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement regular backup procedures and recovery plans for legacy systems and data to prevent loss and ensure data integrity.
  • Security Management: Monitor system security settings and apply necessary patches and updates to safeguard against vulnerabilities, especially in legacy systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, troubleshooting methods, and legacy application specifics.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and resource usage to ensure optimal operation of legacy applications.
  • User Support: Provide technical support to end-users in accessing and using legacy systems; train users, as necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work with other IT departments to integrate legacy systems with new technologies where appropriate and facilitate the migration of legacy systems when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a systems administrator, specifically with Windows operating systems and legacy systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, BigFix and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Legacy Systems Knowledge: Understanding of older and proprietary technologies (such as COBOL, mainframe connectivity, etc.) and legacy application and data processing support.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to effectively troubleshoot critical legacy-related issues

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in learning new technologies and improving legacy system processes.
