The Business Analytics Director is responsible for building, developing, and retaining a high-functioning analytics team that will focus on three general areas: 1. Marketing & Media Mix Analytics to ensure that we are making data-driven investment decisions on how to drive business growth, 2. Machine & Acquisition analytics to support efforts to drive high quality acquisition through analytics and insights partnership with key internal & external partners, and 3. Provide decision support for key in-field sales teams (either Boutiques or B2B). The director will establish and maintain an analytics roadmap, collaborate with key business partners, and drive integrated insights in partnership with the Consumer Insights & Customer Analytics teams.

This role will also champion the importance of data-driven decision making, focusing on processes that inspire continuous learning and development across both Marketing & Sales teams. They will set the tone for the organization in this regard by owning key analytics roadmaps, collaborating with key business partners, as well as building/improving processes and meetings to elevate the overall understanding of business performance.

Responsibilities:

Drive Data-Driven Marketing & Media Investment:
  • Lead a team to develop an internal consultancy focused on maximizing the impact of our investment levels & activity effectiveness across Media, Promotions, Demos and other relevant activities.
  • Establish & maintain data governance and quality standards to ensure data accuracy and reliability of reporting.
  • Collaboratively work with key business partners to ensure that findings are being pulled through to action, and that insights are business relevant.
  • Drive regular review meetings (in partnership with Finance) to ensure that analyses of performance are understood and that recommendations for investment changes are followed and/or risks are understood.
  • Own regular updates to extended leadership team & ManCom.

Build Competitive Advantage Through High Quality Acquisition:
  • Develop and own internal consultancy with respect to machine & new member acquisition performance.
  • Own forecasting process for machines and related support for machine partners.
  • Drive integrated acquisition strategy for sharing retailer & marketplace insights to the wider Nespresso US organization.
  • Lead category & competitive intelligence, delivering regular updates on how key competitors (both at the brand & category) are performing and why.
  • Develop collaboration framework with Machine Partners, Nespresso Commercial, and Nespresso Supply Chain to ensure inventories & forecasts align with expected sales.
  • Own regular updates to extended leadership team & ManCom.

Enhance Business Acumen of Front Line Sales Teams
  • Develop & lead an internal consultancy focused on delivering decision support to key sales teams so that they better understand their business.
  • Partner with key cross-functional teams around forecasting, goal setting, and analysis related to the SSIP program.
  • Develop team competence to identify & clearly communicate where opportunities exist for Nespresso from a geo-local perspective.
  • Collaborate with Customer Analytics & Data Science Team to continually improve upon forecasting & reporting processes.
  • Evangelize the use of regional data with extended leadership team & ManCom to better understand Nespresso's performance and opportunity for growth.
  • Own regular updates to extended leadership team & ManCom.

Build & Retain a High Performing Business Analytics Team:
  • Develop vision and core values for the team
  • Craft long and short term goals for the team based on business needs and role of team in driving Nespresso to be a best in class brand
  • Hire & retain top talent to ensure long-term success and influence of the team
  • Coach team members to create digestible data narratives that consistently challenge the status quo of the business to drive Nespresso forward
  • Develop team skill sets to achieve their personal career goals and manage their workloads effectively
  • Evangelize projects and wins across Nespresso USA to energize team and deepen organizational understanding of analytics


Requirements:


Education:
  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • MBA preferred

Experience:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in Business Intelligence, Commercial Analytics, Supply Chain Demand Planning, on Finance required
  • 5+ years of working in a Direct to Consumer business model, preferably in consumer goods
  • 3+ years of leading a high functioning team
  • Knowledge of key retail & wholesale fundamentals, including Inventory Turnover, Weeks of Supply, Gross Margin and P&L management required
  • Proven ability to drive continuous business improvement while remaining customer centric
  • Knowledge of key marketing measurement fundamentals, including baseline v incremental performance measurement, marketing/media tactics, and marketing mix modelling
  • Strong business acumen, with superior written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of improving business results through data analysis and of influencing an organization to become more data-driven
  • Proven ability to build and retain a diverse and high functioning analytics team

The approximate pay range for this position is $185,000-$210,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
