Position: Systems Administrator / Engg - Mid Level

Location: Dallas, TX(twice a week onsite as a contractor and then once a week when converted to full time)

Hiring Mode: 3 to 6 Months Contract To Hire

Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Mid-Level Systems Administrator/Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is crucial for maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of our on-premises infrastructure. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in Windows Server environments, Active Directory, virtualization, and systems management tools to support our growing business needs. This position requires a blend of administrative and engineering skills, focusing on hands-on support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our core IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active Directory & Identity Management: Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including user accounts, group policies, DNS integration, and replication issues.
  • DNS & DHCP Administration: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot internal DNS and DHCP services to ensure reliable network resolution and IP assignment.
  • Group Policy Management: Develop, implement, and troubleshoot complex Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security settings, software deployments, and desktop configurations.
  • Certificate Services (PKI): Assist with the administration and lifecycle management of digital certificates, including installation, renewal, and revocation.
  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM): Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot operating system deployments (OSD), software distribution, patch management, and inventory collection using SCCM.
  • On-Premise Infrastructure Management: Maintain and monitor Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022) and underlying server hardware (e.g., Dell, HPE).
  • PowerShell Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, report generation, and system configuration.
  • VMware Virtualization: Administer and maintain our VMware vSphere environment, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Actively monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and perform root cause analysis for infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with other IT teams and end-users to provide technical support and contribute to infrastructure projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer role.
  • Proven expertise in managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP in a production environment.
  • Strong experience with Group Policy creation, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCCM (or MECM) for endpoint management.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter Server.
  • Intermediate to advanced PowerShell scripting capabilities for automation and system management.
  • Familiarity with on-premises server hardware, storage, and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience with PKI and certificate lifecycle management.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., MCSA/MCSE, VCP).
  • Experience with ITIL frameworks.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
