Job Description
The Integrated Data Solutions (IDS) is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our team, who possesses a combination of technical expertise in data engineering, with planning and design skills in data architecture. The selected candidate will report to the IDS Senior Manager and be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive data solutions involving for data modeling, governance, and optimization to support business objectives, with a focus on delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance data systems.
Key responsibilities includes:
* Act as a technical authority and subject matter expert within a large team of 130+ data analysts, engineers, and scientists, ensuring alignment with technical standards and best practices.
* Partner with the Digital Sustainment & Analytics (DSA) Chief Engineer and Chief Data Architect on the design and implementation of data solutions.
* Collaborate with the customer, program suppliers, and internal company cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data needs and solutions.
* Develop and maintain data models and governance frameworks, including databases or data warehouses to integrate & deliver graphical and structured data.
* Build and optimize data pipelines, databases, and data sources.
* Ensure data security, quality, and integrity through robust security measures and data validation
* Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data management and engineering.
* Develop and maintain documentation of data systems, architectures, and processes.
* Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and performance problems.
* Communicating complex technical data insights to non-technical stakeholders through narrative and visual reports, including dashboards and presentations.
Basic Qualifications
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, developing, deploying, and supporting large-scale data systems.
* Knowledge & experience with systems engineering principles to design and implement data solutions.
* Experience in processing and analyzing large datasets using programming languages and data processing frameworks.
* Understanding of data architecture principles and ability to design scalable and efficient data systems.
* Ability to troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines and systems for performance and reliability.
* Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data analysts, and IT teams.
* Knowledge of local, distributed, and cloud-based technologies; data virtualization and smart caching.
* Ability to obtain a SECRET/SAR clearance.
Desired skills
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as R, Python, Java, Scala, or C++.
* Familiarity with data storage systems, including relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), and cloud-based storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage).
* Understanding of data engineering tools, such as Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, or Apache Airflow.
* Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services (e.g., AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight).
* Knowledge of data processing frameworks, such as Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, Apache Beam, or Apache Flink.
* Familiarity with AI/ML related technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, neural networks, or natural language processing)
* Experience in supporting business case development and performing costs-benefit analysis.
* Professional Certification in a Data Science related field.
* Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex data engineering issues and optimize data systems.
*Ability to lead and mentor junior data engineers, and to contribute to the development of the data engineering team.
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
