JOB REQUIRES 3 DAYS A WEEK ONSITE IN LONG BEACH, CA / 2 DAYS A WEEK REMOTE.
 
KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineer: CTE, traffic stamping req; PE-Civil, PE stamping, City of Los Angeles, &/or CalTrans a plus.
 
The Senior Engineer / Engineer will collaborate with the Engineering Manager and/or Principal Engineer to ensure customer satisfaction through efficient and high-quality traffic plan reviews. Support initiatives related to design standards, training, and other initiatives that promote staff development, consistency, efficiency, and the expansion of knowledge.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform reviews of traffic control design plans.
  • Sign and seal approved traffic control design plans.
  • Provide feedback during plan reviews.
  • Contribute input to training manuals.
  • Maintain project completion targets and assess ongoing work to ensure adequate completion timelines.
  • Collaborate with the QA/QC team for plan order reviews.
  • Participate in weekly meetings for quality assurance plan reviews.
  • Coordinate with both internal (other TMI departments) and external customers.
  • Provide training and education to Engineering Associates.
  • Monitor and record avoidable errors in plan reviews.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Coordinate with customers to align project requirements.
  • Comprehend project specifications and their relevance to the proposed traffic control.
  • Address and resolve traffic control design concerns in discussion with the customer.
  • Offer guidance to potential customers concerning their traffic control requirements.
  • Conduct on-site project validations.
  • Share insights with Engineering Associates regarding their AUTOCAD design inquiries.
  • Suggest alterations to plans based on feedback from customers or public agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer or related field preferred.
  • California Traffic Engineering license / CTE required
  • California Civil Engineering license / PE-Civil preferred.
  • City of Los Angeles traffic design experience preferred; otherwise CALTrans is good as well.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer / PTOE is a nice to have.
  • Traffic stamping experience is requirement.
  • PE stamping experience is preferred.
  • Signing/Striping and Traffic Signal design experience preferred
  • Experience in or understanding of traffic control design plan preparation preferred.
  • CAD experience required, AUTOCAD is preferred
  • Role is heavily focused on design review / approve (stamping) with some contribution to design for larger projects
  • Willing to hire at various levels (junior to senior level candidates):
    • Junior with 1-2+ years of experience
    • Mid-levels from 2-4 years of experience
    • Seniors with 4-7+ years of experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects throughout the workday.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.

  • Requires remaining in the seated position for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles.
