Job Details

Primary Services is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Outside Plant Fiber Network Ride Out & Design Technician. The primary responsibilities include designing and completing construction plans and permitting applications for new construction of fiber-optic facilities, both aerial and underground.

This is a direct Hire with great benefits and competitive pay!

Key Roles for the Position:

  • Permit and Data Collection
  • Cost Estimation

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine fiber routes and design construction plans for both aerial and underground facilities.
  • Complete permitting applications for new fiber optic construction projects.
  • Obtain appropriate attachment heights for pole permit applications.
  • Participate in and conduct field meetings with joint, public, or private utility operators.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Aerial Fiber Optic Cable Design experience.
  • Familiarity with power poles, including Height of Attachment, space requirements, class of pole, guying, anchors, cable re-arrangements, span lengths, and pole replacements.
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a vehicle for travel to and from job sites.
  • Fiber Optic Underground route design expertise, including the placement of hand holes.
  • Ability to provide a turn-key design from hub site to customer premises.
  • Experience with GPS coordinates (Confidential).
  • GIS Experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Centerpoint and AT&T Construction standards.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic cable construction industry standards.
  • Familiarity with TxDot, Harris County, Railroad, and other local permitting entities.
  • Extensive knowledge of NESC Requirements.
  • Ability to measure aerial clearances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (Microsoft Access preferred).
  • Fluency in English (speak, read, and write) and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
