Description

Introduction

Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated IT professionals who will sustain, modernize and transform the enterprise IT capabilities for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The Air Force and Combatant Commands Business Group of SAIC is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to support a transformational infrastructure program for DCSA.

SAIC is proud to be supporting DCSA in safeguarding our nation's information. DCSA is the designated oversight authority on the accreditation of classified facilities, information systems, and the insider threat program. This involves security oversight of more than 10,000 companies and approximately 13,000 facilities involved in classified work throughout the DoD and 31 Federal agencies.

Specifically, on the DCSA One IT program, SAIC will provide an enterprise IT solution that delivers highly secure and adaptable IT infrastructure, provides customer support, and cutting-edge technologies that support operations and advance the DCSA mission under a single IT environment (i.e., One IT).

This position is remote with very limited travel.

Job Description

A Lean/Agile software and system sustainment team seeks a self-motivated Full Stack Engineer serving one of the critical applications protecting our national resources.

The right candidate finds job satisfaction in rapid troubleshooting of ambiguous, asymmetrical IT systems to document and apply courses of action that keep users online and working in the software we support.

Expectations include adherence to typical NISP, DoD, and DCSA policies, procedures, and data standards, and the zeal to document engineering notebook of intended actions, work progress, and outcomes in Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence).

This role is pivotal in resolving complex help-desk escalations. The role is also critical during degradation in service (outage), when rapid triage, troubleshooting, documentation of Courses of Action, and application of the intervention or remedy is needed from a professional that can operate transparently with the client under near term pressure, even if the normal operational cadence is more sustainable.

This role assists in developing and maintaining a Sustainment Team Delivery Roadmap to include near-term Sprint Planning, 90-day Program Increment planning, and potential input to forecasts and recommendations for planned application remedies and patches in the future. Maintains software applications using innovative solutions to solve contractor or Government identified problems. May have the opportunity to implement emerging technologies, perform vendor patch deployments and software upgrades. Contribute to research on approaches, new software or database products, services, and protocols.

Full Stack Engineer Responsibilities
  • Provides engineering support to the development of data interfaces for the transfer of data between NISS and other existing systems.
  • Provides continuous software/hardware improvement to facilitate data sharing across applications, to meet data storage requirements, and to improve performance.
  • Maintains compliance with Government data and security standards, including current records management policy for retention, or archiving of data, as well as for application support.
  • Performs development of standards and test plans, code and module design, and data solution debugging for desired efficiency, performance, and intent.
  • Supports testing and rapid debugging/recovery during movement from development to production.
  • Plans for backup and recovery capabilities.
  • Works with the software development team to normalize the database structure for the applications supported.
  • Coordinates with the Chief Engineer and provides ad-hoc reporting, data management, and back-end data support for stakeholders.
  • Performs MySQL database performance optimization and tuning, including query tuning with EXPLAIN and execution plans, and indexing strategies for InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines.
  • Performs MySQL database design and architecture, including schema design and normalization.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Power Platform to support business needs, including Power BI for data modeling, dashboard development, and reporting, and Power Automate for workflow automation, data integration, and process orchestration across systems.
  • Administers and troubleshoots databases in RHEL environments using Linux command-line tools (not GUI clients such as MySQL Workbench), including service management, file system navigation, log analysis, and shell scripting for automation.
