Role: SAS Developer

Location: Sacramento, CA / Remote

Duration: 24+ Months (Multiyear project)

Job Description:

Key Skills: SAS, COBOL and any Business Intelligence tool

  • Five (5) years' experience front-end data warehouse or similar processing which includes extracting data for large files from various sources. cleansing data. and preparing the data for loading into a data warehouse.
  • Five (5) years' experience as an analyst-programmer performing various system development life cycle functions including: project planning. requirements analysis. program specifications. coding. testing and implementation.
  • Strong experience working with statistical reporting data tools such as SAS for large volume databases developing and maintaining production reports.
  • Two (2) years' experience working with Business Objects or any other reporting tool.
  • Good experience working in a mainframe environment (with working knowledge of COBOL, VSAM file structures, JCL and TSO) Intermediate level experience with developing program specifications, pseudo code, or logic diagrams- including Warnier-Orr diagrams to identify system changes.

What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position (please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)?

  • Develop and maintain the data feed process from various data sources and transmit data in preparation for loading into the MIS/DSS data warehouse
  • Analyze client warehouse requirements and research existing claim, eligible and provider processes to maintain the data feed production cycle.
  • Utilize SAS statistical tool to create reports and trends from the MIS/DSS, support user requests and provide support for existing data feed outgoing data feeds to the plans, audit and other external areas.
  • Experience using Informatica to help support TMSIS and PERM reporting.
  • Respond to help desk and system changes and updates or changes to the existing data extract and data feed process

What skills/attributes are preferred (what will set a candidate apart)?

  • Experience with paid and denied claims (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.) and data standards (Protected Health Information, privacy standards, HIPAA data elements, and code sets.)
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite of tools and VISIO in facilitating written communication such as developing status reports, creating/updating technical and procedure documentation, and communication with team members, end users and stakeholders.
  • Experience in oral communication in a variety of situations such as interacting with the user community (e.g. State staff, vendors, and Data Center staff), making presentations, facilitating meetings and walkthroughs, and user training.
  • Experience transitioning program changes into production.
  • Experience with Medicaid, SSA, or other welfare programs specific to state and federal policies and procedures.
