Electrical Test Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an Electrical Test Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Capability Team in Huntsville, AL. We design, sustain, and upgrade next generation electronics concepts, and we support production and special test equipment design for increasing capacity requirements.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Support development of automated test equipment, generate drawings, and support hardware fabrication, integration, and testing.
  • Lead or coordinate work to analyze and translate test systems requirements into system architecture, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Create and implement overall Test Equipment Design Strategies.
  • Review and apply real-time test anomaly troubleshooting and resolution of issues encountered during testing and operation.
  • Lead or support work to test, validate, and ensure test system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Support fielded test equipment hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including other engineering disciplines.
  • Research emerging technologies for potential applications to meet projected requirements.
  • Make recommendations for technological investments.
  • Level 4: mentor early career teammates.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Level 3:
  • 3+ years of experience setting up equipment and performing tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test devices.
  • 3+ years of experience operating test equipment.

Level 4:
  • 5+ years of experience setting up equipment and performing tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test devices.
  • 5+ years of experience operating test equipment.

All levels:
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
  • Subject Matter Expert of electrical design with proven previous test equipment design experience.
  • Experience with programming languages C, C++, C#, Python.
  • Experience with National Instrument's Lab-View and Test-Stand software.
  • Experience with Unigraphics, Creo or other drafting CAD tools.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multi-meter and other lab equipment.
  • Project management and communication skills.
  • Active Security Clearance.

Typical Education & Experience:

Experienced (level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (level 3): $96,050 - 129,950

Senior (level 4): $119,850 - 162,150
