Description:

The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Analyst is responsible for managing and tracking IT assets throughout their lifecycle to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. The role involves maintaining asset records within systems such as ServiceNow and CMDB, performing audits, analyzing asset data, and supporting asset disposal.

This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Finance, Security, and Desktop Support to align asset management activities with business goals.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience with asset management tools, strong analytical and communication skills, and familiarity with IT hardware. Experience with scripting (PowerShell or Python), vulnerability management, and certifications such as CHAMP, CSAM, or ITIL Foundation are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of IT hardware assets in the asset management system.

  • Maintain and improve data integrity in asset tracking systems (e.g., ServiceNow, CMDB).

  • Assist in implementing and enforcing ITAM policies and procedures.

  • Perform regular audits and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.

  • Analyze asset data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Support the disposal and retirement of end-of-life assets.

  • Collaborate with Desktop Support, Procurement, Finance, and Security teams to align ITAM with business objectives.

  • Generate reports and dashboards to support decision-making and compliance.

  • Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

  • Lead initiatives for hardware minimization, lifecycle optimization, and cost reduction.

  • Provide support during internal and external IT asset audits.

  • Compile, research, analyze, and document data, requirements, workflows, and controls for ISD/ETS groups.

  • Develop and evaluate information to prepare recommendations based on analysis for decision-making.

  • Identify opportunities for new or enhanced processes, data, or technologies, providing a clear understanding of potential impacts.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), establishing preventative processes and methodologies.

  • Collaborate with Desktop Infrastructure Services, ITAM, CMDB, and ServiceNow teams to enhance Desktop Support Services.

  • Coordinate with peers, project teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure business needs are documented and met.

  • Oversee hardware asset inventory, track and report trends using ServiceNow.

  • Provide daily hardware inventory support, including updates on procured items.

  • Test ServiceNow catalog items and enhancements related to Desktop Support initiatives.

  • Schedule and conduct audit checks to validate reporting accuracy and workflow efficiency.

  • Perform benchmarking, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Process and submit all hardware logistics requisitions.

  • Learn and review budgetary management within Apptio and explore ServiceNow optimization opportunities.

  • Capture, train, and document both new and existing ITAM processes for the team.

  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of IT asset and warehouse management.

  • Manage statements of work (SOW) for larger ITAM initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM).

  • Proficiency with ServiceNow, CMDB, Discovery, and HAM Pro modules.

  • Solid understanding of IT hardware concepts and asset lifecycle processes.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python) for asset data processing.

  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, end-of-life (EOX) tracking, and KPI dashboarding.

  • Proven ability to lead small projects and drive process improvement initiatives.

  • Certifications such as CHAMP, CSAM, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
