Who we're looking for:
We are seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) SME for a potential opportunity, with deep expertise in cybersecurity risk management and compliance. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor on all aspects of system security, guiding the implementation of security controls and supporting the system s accreditation process. The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) SME role plays a critical part in protecting sensitive systems and data from unauthorized access or modification. This is a unique opportunity to shape the growth, development and culture of an exciting and fast-growing company in the cybersecurity market. Employment for this position is dependent on the successful award of the contract.
What you'll be doing:
- Serve as the principal advisor to the Information System Owner, Business Process Owner and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)/ Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on all matters involving system security.
- Ensure implementation and ongoing maintenance of security controls.
- Direct and implement controls and procedures to protect information system assets from unauthorized modification, disclosure or destruction.
- Provide guidance to functional units on the physical protection of information system assets.
- Report on the effectiveness of data security measures and recommend new procedures as needed.
- Assist with reviewing, developing and navigating the system and team through the Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation/certification process.
- Perform network self-inspections.
- Create and revise documentation for ATO packages, including the System Security Plan and IS contingency plan.
- Develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) based on vulnerability data and enter into the system of record.
What you need to know:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and risk management practices.
- Experience supporting ATO efforts, including documentation development.
- Proficiency in implementing and assessing system security controls.
- Ability to conduct system inspections and audits for compliance verification.
- Skilled in developing POA&Ms and managing remediation tracking in system tools.
Must have's:
- Bachelor s degree.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into clear, actionable tasks and processes through critical thinking.
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
