Primary Location: Chicago, Illinois
V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Senior Network Engineer for our premier client in Chicago, Illinois.
Education and Experience »
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering
- 5+ years of experience in multi-site networks supporting 5000+ end points
- Experience with Linux or Unix is a plus
- Experience working with ServiceNow is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls), and operating systems (Cisco IOS, JunOS).
- Ability to analyze complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills to identify and resolve network problems.
- Self-starting attitude looking to take ownership of managing the environment.
- Well versed in ITIL concepts
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Job Responsibilities:
- Planning, designing, and implementing network infrastructure and systems, including hardware and software.
- Diagnosing and resolving network issues, both hardware and software, to ensure optimal network performance and availability.
- Implementing and maintaining network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware from unauthorized access and threats.
- Monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve speed and efficiency.
- Providing guidance and support to other network engineers and technical teams, and potentially leading project teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers, and effectively manage network projects.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute network projects effectively.
