THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) T32, Position Description Number PDD2173P01and is part of the AZ 161st Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

This position is located at the 161st ARW in Phoenix, Arizona. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Plans and Resources section supervisor and a senior Information Technology (IT) specialist.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guar, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives.
  • This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. (cont)

  • Must possess Security Plus Certification.

Qualifications

Military Grades: MSgt/E7 - SMSgt/E8

Compatible Military Assignments: Possess the AFSC of 1D77X

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

MAJOR DUTIES (Condensed)

:1. Information Technology Planning: Analyzes requirements and establishes plans of action for improving IT applications. Analyzes existing and planned IT applications, both hardware and software, to determine current and future potential for enhancements.

2. Telecommunications Planning: Plans and develops methods, procedures, policies, and techniques concerning telecommunication systems.

3. General IT and Communications Planning and Resourcing: Implements IT and communications programs and special projects.

4. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.

5. Adheres to management control plan requirements by conducting self inspection and staff assistance visits. Resolves identified discrepancies.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.
