Mid-Level Oracle Administrator (Hybrid Local Preferred)

About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Oracle Administrator with hands-on experience managing Exadata platforms and Oracle Linux systems. This role focuses on supporting and migrating enterprise Oracle infrastructure especially from AIX/VMware to modern Exadata environments. The manager is prioritizing local candidates available to work on a hybrid schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and maintain Oracle Exadata, PCA, and ZDLRA appliances

  • Migrate existing Oracle workloads from legacy systems to Exadata platforms

  • Perform storage management, IORM, ASM disk group admin, and Exadata patching

  • Automate and document server builds, OS-level changes, and database setup

  • Monitor Linux systems (Red Hat RHEL and Oracle Linux) and resolve system-level issues

  • Collaborate with DBA and infrastructure teams on system performance and scaling

  • Support Exadata quarterly patches and upgrades (rolling patches, OCI server upgrades)

 

Must-Have Skills

  • 10+ years in Unix/Linux system admin, performance tuning, and troubleshooting

  • Strong hands-on with Oracle Exadata architecture (X9/X10), PCA, ZDLRA

  • Expert-level Exadata Machine Management and Unix/Linux Configuration

  • Deep knowledge of ASM, IORM, patching, and storage administration

  • Experience in Oracle Linux 7/8 and RHEL 7/8

  • Scripting: Shell, PERL, Python, CellCLI

  • Clear and effective documentation habits

 

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with RAC, Grid, GoldenGate, DataGuard, LUNs

  • Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

  • PDB/CDB configuration experience

  • Built VMs using PCA/OVM from scratch or via templates

 

Interview Topics to Expect

Candidates should be ready to discuss:

  • Troubleshooting a 10TB+ slow-performing database

  • How to assess storage health

  • Differences between DBA tasks in AWS vs. traditional enterprise setups

  • Real-world experience with kernel panics, firewall tunneling, boot failures, iptables, etc.
