Project Overview
Lead the architectural strategy, design, and governance of the enterprise data ecosystem, driving the modernization and consolidation of data platforms to support business intelligence, advanced analytics, and regulatory reporting. This includes a critical focus on Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR), ensuring compliance with BCBS 239 principles.
Contractor s Role

  • Provide strategic vision for data architecture, platforms, and governance, translating business objectives into effective, scalable, and secure technical solutions.

  • Lead the end-to-end design of complex data solutions, including data warehousing, data modeling, and reporting infrastructure, with a critical emphasis on RDARR capabilities.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data technologies and regulatory requirements, guiding the selection and implementation of platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake to meet BCBS 239 standards.

  • Govern architectural standards and best practices, ensuring all data initiatives align with the long-term data strategy, overall enterprise architecture, and BCBS 239 principles.

  • Establish and enforce data lineage protocols, with a focus on Critical Data Elements (CDEs), to ensure traceability, accuracy, and completeness for risk reporting.

  • Mentor and guide data engineering and BI teams, providing architectural oversight throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, particularly for RDARR implementation and data governance.

Experience Level (Senior)

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or solution architecture, with a proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale data platforms.

  • Deep expertise in designing data architectures on Oracle, Databricks, and Snowflake, considering performance optimization and scalability requirements for financial data.

  • Extensive experience with modern data orchestration and storage frameworks, such as Apache Airflow and Iceberg.

  • Proven ability to integrate diverse data sources and design robust data models to support business intelligence, reporting, and regulatory reporting specifically for financial risk (RDARR).

  • Strong understanding and direct experience with BCBS 239 principles for risk data aggregation and reporting, including governance, data quality, timeliness, and adaptability.

  • Hands-on experience in implementing data lineage solutions, and managing critical data elements within a financial services context.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of data architecture principles, data modeling techniques (including dimensional modeling for regulatory reporting), and data governance frameworks compliant with BCBS 239.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and strategy, including regulatory requirements related to data, to both technical and executive-level stakeholders.

  • Expertise in data warehousing and ETL/ELT patterns, particularly within a financial risk context.

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., cloud platform architect certification) or certifications related to data management and governance are highly valued.

  • Experience with other risk management software or enterprise risk processes.

  • Proficiency with Agile or other iterative development methodologies.

  • Experience with metadata management tools (e.g., , Alation) to document and manage data lineage and CDEs.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead technical workshops to capture business and technical requirements, particularly those related to risk data aggregation and reporting, translating them into architectural designs.

  • Create and document architectural designs, roadmaps, and technical specifications for data platforms and solutions, ensuring alignment with BCBS 239 principles.

  • Define and implement data lineage strategies to provide a clear, traceable record of how critical data elements are sourced, transformed, and aggregated for regulatory reports.

  • Provide architectural governance, reviewing solution designs and implementation plans from data engineering and BI teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness for risk reporting.

  • Advise on data governance, security standards, and data models to ensure a high-quality, long-term data landscape, including data lineage and transparency required by BCBS 239.

  • Perform technical evaluations of new data technologies and features, building proof-of-concepts to validate architectural approaches, especially for enhancing RDARR capabilities.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, risk management, and compliance teams to define data strategy and ensure alignment with BCBS 239 and RDARR requirements.
