About the Role
We re seeking a highly skilled AWS Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team supporting a 24x7x365 operational cloud environment. You will play a critical role in the migration of legacy systems to AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with federal standards. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and DevSecOps, as well as strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 24x7x365 on-call support on a rotating basis with other SREs to maintain system stability.
Lead architectural decisions and implementation of AWS-based solutions in line with NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP standards.
Drive cloud migration from legacy mainframe systems and lead infrastructure design efforts (HLD, LLD).
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
Architect and configure core cloud technologies including OpenShift, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MuleSoft.
Develop and support CI/CD pipelines across multiple applications.
Manage logging, monitoring, alerting, and performance of AWS environments using CloudWatch and other tools.
Recommend, configure, and maintain VPCs, account management, routing, and security.
Act as technical lead, coach, and mentor for SRE and DevOps teams.
Ensure secure and cost-effective operations, driving optimization and compliance.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field OR equivalent experience/certifications.
Experience:
7 10 years in infrastructure support, delivery, and architecture.
5+ years hands-on AWS cloud design, configuration, and support.
Experience with federal systems, FedRAMP, and/or Federal Student Aid a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of AWS services including VPC, EC2, S3, ELB, CloudWatch, IAM, and Redshift.
Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
Expertise in containerization (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
Advanced knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and DevSecOps environments (SAFe Agile, Atlassian JIRA).
Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases.
Familiar with security protocols and compliance in cloud environments.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with MuleSoft, Kafka, JBoss, and API Gateways.
Understanding of Azure Core and Tenancy/Billing models.
Prior experience leading cross-functional teams in Agile settings.
