The impact you will have in this role:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Capacity Planning Engineer to join the Distributed Capacity Team. In this role, you will analyze infrastructure performance metrics to ensure on-prem infrastructure resources are sufficient to handle current and future demand of our services. Your key responsibilities will include identifying capacity risks and advancing if necessary, collaborating with product management and application development to perform capacity server assessments, and initiating process improvements. You will work with a broad, cross-functional distributed team to drive innovation and efficiency in our capacity management procedures.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement capacity planning strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization and meet business demands.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity metrics to ensure efficient operation and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on capacity utilization, performance metrics, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as IT, operations, and product management, to align capacity planning with business goals.
  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions that enhance capacity management and reporting processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and performance of data reporting and visualizations, supporting critical business decisions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the automation and capacity management processes.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Talents Needed for Success:
  • Proven experience in Excel macros and/or database queries, with a focus on analyzing trends. Experience working with SQL Server, Oracle DB, and Snowflake, with expertise in database design and optimization.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with experience working in a diverse, global environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • ITIL certifications are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in Agile methodology and related tools such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and management, particularly in the context of on-premises infrastructure such as clusters, databases, servers, and storage.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
