Description & Requirements

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock - from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes. Our Team: The Bloomberg Data AI group brings cutting-edge AI technologies into Bloomberg's Data organization while contributing deep financial subject matter expertise to the development of AI-powered products. We partner closely with stakeholders to align AI innovation with Bloomberg's strategic objectives, focusing on optimizing data workflows and elevating the quality, intelligence, and usability of the data that drives our products. Our work amplifies the impact of the Data organization by delivering intelligent data solutions and domain-informed systems that enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of Bloomberg's offerings.
What's the role?
We are looking for an Annotation Operations Lead to craft, coordinate, and optimize the execution of our annotation programs. This role is crucial to ensuring that data annotation operations are consistent, high-quality, scalable, and aligned with modern ML techniques while rapidly working against Bloomberg's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will define standards, guide platform requirements, and shape resource models to scale domain expertise, working cross-functionally with Engineering, CTO and executive leadership.
You will be a part of a purposeful team embedding AI into one of the world's most data-rich organizations, influencing our future of intelligent data operations at scale, and collaborating with best-in-class authorities at the intersection of finance, data, and technology!
We'll trust you to:
  • Be responsible for the definition and implementation of best-in-class practices across the full lifecycle of annotated datasets.
  • Develop and implement standards that promote annotation program consistency, reusability, and quality.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and the CTO to define and evolve technical requirements for annotation platform workflows, which will use machine learning and generative AI technologies to improve annotation efficiency and scalability.
  • Establish clear policy and governance frameworks that enable robust measurement, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and run flexible staffing strategies, using a blend of hiring resources to scale annotation capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, consistency, and innovation across annotation teams.
You'll need to have:
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, ideally within data annotation, ML data operations, or AI infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in data lifecycle governance, ML workflows, and annotation practices.
  • Demonstrable ability to define and drive platform and policy requirements in a cross-functional setting.
  • Deep familiarity with annotation tooling, active learning, and other ML-enhanced labeling approaches.
  • Superb communication and leadership skills with a strong bias for strategic execution.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
We'd love to see:
  • Experience working in a fast-paced financial technology or enterprise software environment.
  • Prior involvement in building or running AI/ML data platforms.
  • Knowledge of ethical and regulatory considerations in large-scale data operations.
