Job Title: Payroll Tester (Level 2)
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid On-site Hyattsville, Washington, DC, and Alexandria, VA)
Type: 6 months Contract to Hire
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid 2 days
OVERVIEW:
Client is seeking a skilled Payroll Tester (Level 2) to support the implementation and testing of Oracle Cloud Payroll, Time & Labor, and Absence Management modules. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in payroll systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute functional testing for Oracle Cloud Payroll, Time & Labor, and Absence Management modules.
- Create test scripts and data for configuration, interface, and report validation.
- Resolve payroll, time, and leave errors during testing phases.
- Analyze interface issues and perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies.
- Develop and execute complex ad-hoc queries using Oracle OTBI.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure integration points function correctly.
- Support UAT and end-user training sessions.
- Document business processes, configurations, and system modifications.
- Evaluate and test new or modified software programs for compliance with user requirements.
- Recommend improvements and corrections based on testing outcomes.
- Conduct compatibility tests and monitor systems during program testing.
- Prepare detailed specifications and documentation for application software packages.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Minimum 7 years of experience testing payroll, timekeeping, and absence modules.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting Payroll modules.
- Strong knowledge of payroll principles, calculations, tax regulations, and unionized environments.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (HCM, Financials, Procurement).
- Proficiency in SQL and Oracle OTBI for data validation and reporting.
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience in all phases of Application Life Cycle Management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll and Kronos Timekeeping.
- Certifications in Software Testing (e.g., ISTQB).
- Experience with automated testing tools and cloud-based applications.
- Prior experience in the public sector or large government agencies.
- Knowledge of transit business processes and legacy systems.
