Technical Program Manager (Global Trade Management & Transportation)
Location: San Jose, CA (Hybrid role)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract to hire
Description:
  • Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support a Global Trade Management (GTM) initiative within its Digital Transformation and Supply Chain Systems group.
  • This role will work closely with (Sr. Director) and cross-functional teams to drive the successful implementation and integration of GTM capabilities within SAP.
About & Day-to-Day:
  • SAP limited functionality around R&D
  • This person is going to be Largely going to Building section
  • 3rd party basic solutions assessment is this they can use SAP core
  • Must Be able to ask the Technical team the right questions, give the right tasks to get the work done
  • Project Context TPM Need (Global Trade & Transportation)
  • Current SAP setup: basic functionality across Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics.
  • Operations involve managing plane movements for demos and regional logistics.
  • Trade Compliance: currently uses a basic level of third-party screening.
  • Needs: enhanced Transportation and Trade Compliance solutions.
  • Current phase: Greenfield building from scratch.
First 90 days:
  • More than likely SAP Trade planning, TMS (Transportation Management system)..Trade is the most critical
  • Lead and drives the full program end-to-end.
  • Oversee product selection, strategy, and execution.
  • Be hands-on with architecture, configuration, and delivery.
  • Must have strong functional understanding (not just coordination or project management).
  • Ideal for someone with startup experience or who has built solutions from scratch.
  • Should understand technical aspects even though a dedicated tech team exists.
Hard Skills/Tools:

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Trade and Transportation initiative from initial planning through full implementation.
  • Drive product selection, evaluate SAP core capabilities, and assess integration with trade and logistics processes.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to define roadmaps, requirements, and process improvements.
  • Oversee the design and configuration of SAP modules related to Trade Planning, Transportation, and Compliance.
  • Collaborate with the technical and functional teams to ensure end-to-end delivery and solution alignment.
  • Manage and coordinate with 3rd-party trade compliance vendors as needed.
  • Provide hands-on guidance in architecture and execution; not a pure coordination role.
  • Identify gaps in current SAP utilization and lead initiatives to expand functionality.
  • Support future build-out and enhancements on top of the SAP core solution.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in SAP Program or Project Management, ideally in Trade, Transportation, or Global Logistics.
  • Proven experience leading greenfield implementations or projects from inception to delivery.
  • Strong functional understanding of Procurement, Manufacturing, Planning, Logistics, and Trade Compliance processes.
  • Ability to translate business needs into SAP configurations and architecture.
  • Hands-on experience driving strategy and execution in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working in startup or fast-paced transformation environments is highly preferred.
