Job Title : Network Technician 3 (NT3)

Location : Richardson, TX / Raleigh, NC (Remote)

Duration : Long term Contract

 

Must Have Skills

The Net Tech -III should have an advanced understanding of Transport Network functions such as SONET, SDH and DWDM signal flow and troubleshooting. Performs tasks associated with the maintenance, installation and change of company transport network service. With a strong understanding of telecommunications, the tech 3 will be responsible for implementing, troubleshooting, managing and correcting customer and network service issues. In addition assist management with process improvements.

The Main Responsibilities

  • The Network Technician 3 (NT3) serves as primary technical point of contact for the implementation and regroom team, interfacing with engineering, service delivery, internal and external partners and customers.
  • The NT3 leads technicians in working with internal and external departments and vendors to ensure on-time delivery of service.
  • The NT3 leads network system installations and/or maintenance activities.
  • The NT3 documents process and trains technicians in provisioning layers 1 through 3 (OSI model). Services include DS0, DS1, DS-3, OC-n, 1G through 100G ethernet systems.
  • The NT3 serves as a SME, mentor and trainer for technicians of junior grade and experience.
  • The NT3 serves in an in-charge supervisory role in the absence of the manager.
  • Primary function is to lead the network implementation team in documenting process in building router configs on customer and network data and transport circuits
  • Lead the team in performing install and regroom activities on data and transport circuits.
  • Perform fault isolation and resolution activities on customer and network circuits.
  • Work with engineering and service delivery organizations to assist with install, regroom and trouble resolution activities.
  • Strong skills in BGP, EBGP, OSPF, MPLS and static routing. As well, a basic understanding of LAN and WAN technology.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering or other technical degree or technical certification or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years related experience in specific area or equivalent.
  • May require technical certification. CCNA/CCNP preferred.

Preferred Job Skills:

  • Ideal candidate possesses working knowledge with: Alcatel, Cisco & Juniper routers. Ciena, Cisco & Tellabs transport systems. Frame/ATM technology.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP, routing protocols, MPLS networks, VPN principles, DNS principles.
  • Possess excellent customer service acumen, verbal and written communication skills, and trouble shooting and fault resolution techniques. Strong documentation skills and analytical ability to instruct others on existing, new and evolving technologies is a must. Candidate must have the ability and be willing to share and convey knowledge base with internal and external entities to ensure projects are completed on time.

Work Environment:

Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business. This is a fast-paced, highly structured operation center.
