Job Description:

  • As an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Software Developer specializing in Rhapsody and HL7, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining EDI solutions tailored specifically for healthcare organizations.
  • Your expertise in Rhapsody integration engine and HL7 standards will be essential in ensuring seamless data exchange between healthcare systems, improving interoperability, and enhancing patient care delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Rhapsody integration engine to design, develop, and deploy EDI solutions for healthcare organizations, including hospitals, clinics, and medical laboratories.
  • Implement HL7 interfaces for exchanging healthcare data, including admission/discharge/transfer (ADT), orders and results (ORU, ORM), clinical documents (CCD, CDA), and medical imaging (DICOM).
  • Collaborate with healthcare IT teams, clinical staff, and external vendors to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain HL7 message schemas, mappings, and transformations within the Rhapsody environment.
  • Configure Rhapsody channels and connectors to establish secure and reliable communication channels for EDI transactions (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTPS, SOAP, REST).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HL7 message parsing, validation, and routing within Rhapsody, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with database administrators to integrate HL7 data into healthcare information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHR), and other clinical applications.
  • Stay abreast of evolving HL7 standards and industry trends, and assess their impact on EDI solutions and interoperability initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on Rhapsody configuration, HL7 implementation, and best practices in healthcare data exchange.
  • Participate in testing, quality assurance, and documentation activities to ensure the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of EDI solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Rhapsody Integration Engine Professional Certification.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) working as an EDI Developer with a focus on healthcare IT and HL7 standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of HL7 standards, including HL7 v2.x (e.g., v2.3, v2.5) and HL7 v3/CDA.
  • Experience with HL7 message structure, segments, fields, and data types, and proficiency in developing HL7 message transformations.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data exchange protocols and security standards (e.g., DICOM, FHIR, HIPAA).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical terminology, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Meaningful Use, HITECH Act).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex EDI issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements in a dynamic healthcare environment.
