As a Lead Software Engineer for the Developer Experience team, you will focus on providing solutions to enable engineers to build software faster, more reliably, and with less friction. The Developer Experience team works on things like design systems, CLI tooling, shared packages, and much more. You'll work with a team of other developers alongside systems engineers, service engineers, and project managers. Our team uses modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop tooling to increase developer productivity
  • Develop tools and services that are part of our build and test automation infrastructure with an eye on scaling and reliability
  • Innovatively create and develop techniques to automate manual activities in our development process
  • Operate in a highly multi-functional environment where you can use multiple teams to help our partners be successful
  • Evangelize and drive adoption of solutions, processes, and tooling
  • Develop and update user documentation
  • Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Amazon Web Services
  • Prototype new features and research applicable technologies
  • Implement standard methodologies to continually increase performance and scalability
  • Review code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are met
  • Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
  • Mentor and provide feedback to junior engineers
  • Work with partner teams to build reusable and scalable solutions

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 7+ years relevant industry experience
  • Proven proficiency in frontend web development technologies and principles
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating
  • Experience with task automation (Grunt, Gulp, WebPack,etc.) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
  • Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Driven and self motivated

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, React
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Cypress, Jest, or other testing solutions
  • Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD platforms
  • Experience with pnpm, Lerna, npm or other package management solutions
  • Experience with GitHub and Gitlab

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles is $149,300 - $200,200 per year, in Seattle and New York is $156,300 - $209,600 per year, and in San Francisco is $163,500 - $219,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered
