Test Engineer Aerospace Interiors
Summary:
Hands-on role designing and assembling test fixtures, leading a small team to perform static, abuse, and cycle testing of aircraft interiors (lavatories, galleys, closets) in a light industrial environment. Requires adaptability, problem solving, and occasional physical work to meet tight project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute and oversee static, abuse, and cycle testing
Design, fabricate, and document test fixtures and setups
Automate static tests using pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Collect, analyze, and validate test data; prepare reports
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align schedules and scope
Ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards
Mentor technicians and support team knowledge sharing
Troubleshoot and maintain testing equipment and systems
Qualifications:
STEM degree + 5 years relevant experience (or equivalent)
Strong background in mechanical and structural testing, data analysis, and fixture design
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Inventor Pro) and LabVIEW
Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, basic electrical systems, and microcontrollers (Arduino)
Skilled in using hand and power tools, carpentry, and metalworking
Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred:
Aerospace testing experience
Ability to read, interpret, and write test plans
Exposure to manual mill, lathe, saws, welding, and fabrication
