Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II to join our team for a long-term engagement (12+ months) based in either Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN in a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software deployment projects, financial management, and cross-functional team leadership within large enterprise environments.
Project Overview
The Project Manager II will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a strategic technology project involving the deployment and integration of commercial software solutions with legacy systems. This role requires effective coordination across departments, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Lead all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through closure.
- Define and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate and facilitate regular project meetings, including status updates and stakeholder briefings.
- Manage project risks, issues, and changes in a timely manner.
- Monitor financials, perform variance analysis, and prepare project forecasts.
- Prepare and present executive-level project summaries and visual dashboards.
- Oversee project documentation, ensure compliance with PMO standards.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for system integration and deployment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5 7 years of direct project management experience.
- 5 10 additional years in PM-related roles such as PMO, Business Analyst, Test Lead, etc.
- Proven experience with COTS software deployment and integration.
- Strong financial acumen: variance analysis, accruals, and forecasting.
- Proficiency with project tools: Microsoft Project, Office 365, Confluence, Jira, etc.
Non-Technical Skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication.
- Ability to lead effective meetings and facilitate workshops.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Executive presentation skills able to translate complex information into visual summaries.
- Leadership presence and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).
- Accrual-based accounting experience (nice to have).
- Vendor management and RFP experience.
- Prior experience working in large enterprises with cross-functional coordination.
- Previous experience in the utilities industry (preferred).
