EXPERIENCED NETWORK OPERATIONS ENGINEER

We are currently seeking an experienced support engineer to join a dedicated team in our NOC providing support for the implementation and management of our client’s managed WLAN and LAN solution.  This team will have ownership and expertise of the client’s current and future technology environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical expert who enjoys working as a consultative resource as well as performing hands-on engineering responsibilities.    Members of this team will be engaged throughout site planning, implementation, migration and then Day 2 monitoring and management.  The responsibilities include:

Project Management Support

  • Assist in the WLAN planning and migration strategy preparing for NOC migration and Day 2 support
  • Provide design input and peer reviews as requirements are turned into design documentation
  • Perform project coordination activities as needed to support the extended project management team
  • Stage and configure equipment
  • Perform site readiness testing and confirmation

Implementation

  • Provide technical support for on-site installation resources
  • Provide configuration support
  • Provide technical leadership during site migrations
  • Perform site and core system tests including installation test, deployment  tests, functional test, production release test and customer acceptance test for sign off

 

Day 2 Support

  • Point of contact for client for WLAN network technical support and troubleshooting
  • Manage client support requests/requirements via NOC ticketing system
  • Ensure required configuration changes and service patch are implemented
  • Partner with the extended NOC team with Cisco Prime WLAN management platform to provide custom reports as required
  • Partner with extended NOC team with the installation, configuration, and administration server to be used as repository server for Wi-Fi backups, logs, upgrades, and reports

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will need to meet the requirements listed below and share specific prior experience implementing security policies correctly on network devices, implementing best practices, deploying new technologies, maintaining software levels, and managing and updating global configurations.

 

  • 5 years network management experience operating, maintaining, and updating a WLAN network and specifically experience with Cisco wireless technology.  Experience should include adding or deleting sites and/or network devices, making configuration changes, upgrading operating system, etc.
  • 5 years of engineering network support that includes specific knowledge of Cisco wireless infrastructure and Cisco Access point/authentication, and device management technologies and processes
  • Experience with supporting global, enterprise customers
  • Experience using the Microsoft office suite of tools
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, DNA Center, and Prime WLAN management platform desirable
  • Experience with the ITIL V3 IT Lifecycle Management Framework desirable

 

EDUCATIONAL OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in information technology, computing or other relevant area of study or equivalent work experience
  • Cisco Certifications CCNA or CCNP highly preferred

 

OTHER

  • Work Location – 100% Remote but must be able to attend training and events in the Schaumburg, IL office on a periodic basis.  Preference will be given to candidates within driving distance to the office
  • Required to work extended hours when necessary
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays on occasion
  • No travel required

The estimated base salary range for this job is $65,000-$85,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that NDS reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
