Schedule: Hybrid - Onsite - 1 day/wk (Might have do some extra onsite if the client/manager requests)

Job Title:

Job Purpose & Summary

The AWS Full Stack Architect leads the migration from a legacy mainframe to a cloud-based environment, driving key architectural decisions, delivering core platforms, and ensuring performance and compliance of AWS cloud services. This role involves resolving production issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing long-term solutions.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices for cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and support technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and NIST 800-53/FedRamp standards.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform and Ansible.
  • Oversee cloud system debugging, monitoring, logging, and performance management.
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams.
  • Promote a DevOps mindset and lead the transition to a cloud-native architecture.
  • Drive cost-effective solutions by optimizing cloud architecture and influencing stakeholders.
  • Design and configure key technologies such as OpenShift, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MuleSoft, and more.
  • Create and document high-level and low-level infrastructure designs in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Application teams.
  • Ensure clear definition of done, requirements traceability, and approval processes (e.g., ARB).
  • Break work down into sprint-sized tasks, assign story points, and lead teams in agile execution.
  • Act as a technical lead, coaching and mentoring teams to deliver solutions that align with approved architecture.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7 10 years in infrastructure engineering/architecture, including 5+ years in cloud design (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with:
    • FedRamp and Federal Student Aid systems.
    • AWS services: VPCs, Redshift, ELB/ALB, CloudWatch, billing, performance management.
    • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, Perl.
    • DevOps/DevSecOps tools and methodologies, including CI/CD and SAFe Agile.
    • Containerization platforms (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and other NoSQL solutions.
    • Middleware and integration tools like MuleSoft, Kafka, and API Gateways.
    • IT automation tools and monitoring frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to serve as a final escalation point for 24/7 cloud environment support.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and guide teams across technical domains.
