THIS ROLE IS ONSITE 5 DAYS PER WEEK IN NEW YORK CITY.

Established IT consulting firm needs an experienced IT Network Engineer to work on VMWare hardening and support client networks. Seeking highly articulate individuals with 7 +years of direct experience.

This person will be implementing a series of best practices, configurations, and controls to strengthen the security posture of VMs and the underlying virtualization infrastructure.

  1. Disable Unnecessary Services: Turn off unused services and features on VMs to minimize the attack surface. For example, disable copy-paste, drag-and-drop, and unused network protocols.
  2. Apply Security Patches: Regularly update the VM operating system and applications with the latest security patches to address known vulnerabilities.
  3. Configure Firewalls: Enable and configure host-based firewalls on VMs to control incoming and outgoing traffic.
  4. Access Control: Implement strong access controls, such as role-based access control (RBAC), least privilege principles, and multi-factor authentication (MFA), to restrict unauthorized access.
  5. Encryption: Use encryption for VM disks, virtual hard disks, and network traffic (e.g., SSL/TLS) to protect sensitive data.
  6. Monitoring and Logging: Deploy monitoring tools, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and centralized logging to detect and respond to suspicious activities.

Additional duties include:

  • Security patching of servers and applications
  • Firmware
  • Extensive desktop support of standard applications

Preferred experience with:

  • High Availability Technologies
  • Market Data and Trading Systems related experience
  • Understanding of the unique business and technical requirements of working in the financial services market
