Responsibilities
Working on the DDR&E(M) critical technology areas offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment at the forefront of advancing national defense capabilities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Directed Energy, Hypersonics, and more. As part of a collaborative team of technical experts, you will directly support the development and maintenance of modernization technology roadmaps and strategic documents, ensuring alignment with DoD goals. Your role will involve close interaction with senior DoD leaders and stakeholders across the S&T community. You will have the opportunity to support independent technical assessments, provide expert analysis of emerging technologies, and contribute to decision-making processes impacting the Department's most critical modernization efforts. This project requires a high level of professionalism, technical expertise, and a commitment to shaping the future of national security capabilities.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. As a senior engineer for Directed Energy, you will have the opportunity to do the following:
- Support the office of the Principal Director (PD) for Directed Energy within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering
- Advise the Principal Director on the strategic direction for the DE technology portfolio and develop relevant products
- Develop a technology roadmap to outline future DE developments for DoD in consultation with the PD and develop relevant products
- Assist in outreach to the S&T community to enable DE technology development including other U.S. Government, industry, academia, and international partners
- Analyze and track DE programs across DoD; assist in technical evaluation of programs; assist in development of requirements
- Assist with and prepare presentations, reports, and other business products as directed by the PD
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and over 15 years of related work experience
- Must have a current and active TS/SCI clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
- Experience overseeing DE projects for the DoD; US Navy experience preferred
