Controls Engineer V

Job Title: Controls Engineer I
Location: Fully Onsite/Corning NY
Duration: 12+ Months
Job Type: Contract
Rate Range: $20- 30/hr.
Note: Manager strongly prefers local candidates, but is open to non-local candidates who are willing to relocate that their own expense. This is an entry level position, so local candidates will be shortlisted before non-local candidates. Interview process: Phone screen, then onsite interview preferred (if candidate is local). Top candidates will be shortlisted on Friday, Sept 5.
Top 3 Required Skills:

• Strong understanding and application of classical control theory (PID control loop tuning and analysis)
• Programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink with controls-oriented modeling (system identification)
• Familiarity with advanced process control technologies (MPC, cascade, feedforward, nonlinear approaches)

Must-Have Skills:

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (controls-focused coursework required)
• 1 5 years of manufacturing experience (internships accepted for new grads)
• Strong knowledge of classical and advanced control theory
• MATLAB/Simulink programming and system modeling experience
• Problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Interpersonal skills with ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Ability to function independently and in teams, with a results-oriented mindset

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Master s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Programming in Python, C++, or .NET languages (C#, VB)
• Experience or willingness to learn PLC/IEC-based programming (ladder, structured text)
• Hands-on experience with MPC implementation and maintenance
• Exposure to multivariate statistical process control methods (PCA, PLS)
• Experience working in or leading cross-functional/global teams
• Technical curiosity and leadership potential
