Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-driven Account Reconciliations Accountant with experience in the Managing General Agent (MGA) or broader insurance industry. This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and resolving variances for a wide range of balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data in accordance with GAAP and company policy. . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, and a keen ability to manage high-volume reconciliations with accuracy and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including cash, commissions receivable/payable, premium liabilities, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, intercompany balances, and other insurance-related accounts.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner, collaborating with internal teams as needed.
Ensure all reconciliations are properly supported and documented in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements.
Monitor aging of reconciling items and follow up on resolution with appropriate departments.
Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and supporting schedules.
Work closely with the general ledger, revenue recognition, claims, and treasury teams to ensure proper accounting treatment of MGA-related transactions.
Support internal and external audit requests related to reconciliations and balance sheet integrity.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance reconciliation efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
3- 5 years Accounting / Finance experience
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Intermediate Excel Skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage tight deadlines, organize, and prioritize work independently
Superior quantitative and analytical skills
Demonstrated skills and capabilities in critical thinking, complex problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Contract length 12 months
