Job Description
We're hiring for a full-time position based in the Santa Monica, CA area with a fast-moving, venture-backed startup that's reimagining how airports operate on the ground. As a core member of a lean, high-impact team, you'll work with modern tools to help develop an intelligent, AI-powered Ground Traffic Control system. This platform is central to optimizing aircraft turnaround times and pushing the boundaries of airfield automation.
This role offers a chance to directly shape critical infrastructure in the aviation and mobility space. You'll collaborate across teams to architect scalable, resilient data systems in a dynamic, high-ownership environment.

Required Skills & Experience
4+ years as a software or data engineer, preferably in time-sensitive or live data applications
Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, Debezium) and using cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Terraform)
Strong command of SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema optimization and performance tuning
Backend development proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, or Java
Familiarity with API design using REST and/or gRPC
User-focused mindset with a willingness to engage with stakeholders to understand use cases and constraints
Strong analytical thinking and clear communication
Experience thriving in fast-paced, startup settings where independence and initiative are key

Desired Skills & Experience
Exposure to real-time communication protocols like MQTT or WebSockets
Industry knowledge in aviation, transportation, logistics, or connected devices (IoT)
Experience working at an early-stage company
Understanding of sensor data, GPS tracking, or fleet operations

Tech Breakdown

70% - Writing, testing, and deploying production-ready code
