Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This is an Engineering Technical (Mechanical), GS-0802-09/10/11 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division for the following location: Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This position may be filled at the GS-09, GS-10, or GS-11 grade level.

Promotion is at the discretion of management.

Duties

Help

  • Perform inspection involving the mechanical systems in the major repair of an existing structure.
  • Develop and prepare design concepts, design studies, maintenance and repair components in hydroelectric power plants utilizing computer aided drafting products.
  • Consult with and advise project engineers and others as to the availability of equipment and facilities to support projects.
  • Support engineering staff in duties associated with maintenance of hydroelectric power plants
  • Provide technical guidance and support with FEM computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manage file system for plans and engineering documents.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

GS-09: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes : 1) Developing standard operating procedures (SOP's) for safe clearance procedures for the safe removal of equipment for service. 2) Providing technical support and coordination of OSHA compliance requirements for District's power plants.

OR

successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D.

GS-10: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Preparing revisions to "as constructed" electronic drawings using Computer Aided Drafting systems to update power plant and spillway or outlet structure drawings.

GS-11: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Preparing plans and specifications for maintenance work to be done by hired labor or contract. 2) Work closely with Power Plant managers and engineers during the design and execution phases.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
