BACKEND DEVELOPER: DATA (PRODUCT INFORMATION)

DIGITAL CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE JOURNEY

This role supports a digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing the customer experience through a modernized technology stack, new digital platforms, and a best-in-class eCommerce operating model. The services are built on improved data and process models and serve customers across the US, Canada, and LATAM.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Backend Developer, with expertise in Product Information Management (PIM), plays a key role in designing and delivering services for a Product Information Ecosystem. Responsibilities include managing and improving the PIM system, ensuring smooth data flows between systems, and collaborating with Tech Leads and frontend developers to integrate enterprise systems like ERP and CRM. The role also includes data engineering tasks such as implementing reports, setting up databases, and defining data models to support a robust data architecture.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with minimal travel required.

TEAM STRUCTURE

The Product Data and Information Publishing / PIM team operates in an agile environment with guidance from a Product Owner and Tech Lead. The team emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end ownership of deliverables, fostering innovation, agility, and accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • PIM System Management: Configure, maintain, and optimize the PIM system for performance and reliability.
  • Platform Development: Build and maintain backend platforms integrating PIM data with ERP, CRM, and other systems.
  • Data Integration: Design and manage APIs and data pipelines for seamless data flow.
  • Collaboration: Work with Tech Leads and frontend developers to ensure data consistency and integration.
  • Data Management: Maintain and improve the Product Information Data Model.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation for data models, APIs, and system configurations.
  • Data Engineering: Implement reports, set up databases, and define data models.
  • Security: Apply best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field

Required Skills
  • 5+ years of backend development experience
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Python, and backend runtimes
  • Experience with Informatica P360
  • Understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Familiarity with Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and middleware/API tools (e.g., WebMethods, Azure API Gateway)
  • Experience with PIM solutions and data standards
  • Proficiency in SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
  • RESTful API and data pipeline development
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools
  • Understanding of scalable backend system architecture
  • Experience with code reviews, unit testing, and Agile methodologies

Preferred Skills
  • Agile team experience
  • Familiarity with microservices and modular programming
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $98000.00 - $131000.00/yr.
