Job Description:
A Network Engineer III is a subject matter expert who is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting various networking technologies and solutions. This role involves managing data collection, reporting, and trending for all critical network components and services. The Network Engineer III will diagnose and resolve the most complex network and security incidents and requests that require research and diagnosis. They also recommend process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance, and support of network equipment.

Network Engineer III

Job Description:
A Network Engineer III is a subject matter expert who is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting various networking technologies and solutions. This role involves managing data collection, reporting, and trending for all critical network components and services. The Network Engineer III will diagnose and resolve the most complex network and security incidents and requests that require research and diagnosis. They also recommend process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance, and support of network equipment.

- Design and architect complex Cisco-based network solutions to meet business requirements and scalability needs.
- Develop comprehensive network design documentation, including high-level and low-level designs
- Configure and optimize Cisco routers (ISR, ASR) and switches (Catalyst, Nexus) for performance and reliability.
- Implement advanced routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS where applicable
- Design and deploy Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs (site-to-site, remote access), and other security solutions.
- Develop and enforce network security policies, including access control lists (ACLs) and security best practices.
- Utilize Cisco monitoring tools (Cisco DNA Center) to monitor network performance and proactively address issues.
- Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and implement optimization strategies.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex network issues, including escalated incidents and outages.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., security, systems, applications) to integrate network solutions into overall IT infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Lead network infrastructure projects from initiation through implementation, ensuring milestones are met within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate activities with external service providers.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 or more years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco technologies required.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex network solutions and leading projects.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP or CCIE are highly desirable
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Expert-level knowledge of Cisco routing and switching technologies, including advanced protocols and features.
- Deep understanding of network security principles and practices, including VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools, with the ability to analyze performance metrics and optimize network infrastructure.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
- Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and advancements in networking technologies.
- Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and Cisco SD-WAN solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework or other IT service management best practices.
