Production Planner
(Operations / Supply Chain)

Position Overview

The Production Planner plays a key role in aligning operational execution with customer delivery expectations. This position coordinates production schedules, monitors planning adherence, and serves as a liaison between operations and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and transparent communication from planning through shipment.

Responsibilities

Production Planning

  • Implement and maintain mid-range production schedules for assigned customer programs.
  • Collaborate with master scheduling to resolve priority conflicts and validate schedule inputs.
  • Translate master plans into actionable shop floor production schedules.
  • Facilitate and participate in daily/weekly planning alignment meetings with operations teams.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and schedule adherence, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement to release work orders and picking lists for raw materials and components.
  • Deliver spare parts and production forecasts to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Drive action plans to address bottlenecks, lead time variances, and throughput concerns.

Requirements & Capacity Analysis

  • Analyze material/component availability and production capacity based on open orders.
  • Escalate any constraints or risks to planning stakeholders promptly to avoid delivery disruptions.

Slow-Moving Inventory & Rework

  • Participate in initiatives to reduce work-in-progress (WIP) and obsolete inventory.
  • Liaise with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve technical and rework-related concerns.
  • Ensure timely customer updates and feedback coordination with project teams and internal review boards.

ERP Data Accuracy

  • Recommend planning data clean-up (e.g., lead times, safety stock) to improve schedule reliability.
  • Monitor and validate ERP transactions and system updates for accuracy.

Cross-Functional & Customer Coordination

  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Provide recovery plans for missed or delayed orders and coordinate communication with stakeholders.
  • Work with procurement and logistics to ensure timely material and component deliveries.

Performance Metrics

  • OTC (On-Time to Commit)

  • Reduction in Aged/Slow-Moving Inventory

Requirements & Qualifications

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • Clear and effective communicator (written, verbal, and presentations)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask under pressure
  • Assertive, collaborative, and solution-focused
  • Comfortable in cross-functional environments and quick decision-making
  • Understanding of GD&T and lean manufacturing principles is a plus
  • Flexible, proactive, and results-driven
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (as needed)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a planning, buying, or supply chain-related role
  • Familiarity with production planning and ERP systems (Visual ERP is a plus)
  • Background in lean or continuous improvement environments is an advantage
