Job Title: AI Architect

Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite)


Overview

The AI Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of a modern application infrastructure utilizing Vector Databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and other Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. This initiative aims to enhance internal users ability to find applicable documents, content, and information related to Department policies and initiatives.

This position is required due to the specialized nature of implementing AI/ML infrastructure particularly Vector Databases and RAG systems and the need for immediate, focused expertise not currently available internally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Define the end-to-end technical architecture for the new AI-powered search system, including selection and integration of the Vector Database, RAG framework, and associated AI models.

  • Implementation: Oversee and execute the deployment of the new application infrastructure, ensuring it meets high availability and performance requirements for real-time internal querying.

  • Consultation & Analysis: Consult with internal stakeholders to define user needs, analyze current content structures, and advise on data preparation and indexing strategies for the Vector Database.

  • Vision & Problem Solving: Provide the technical vision for leveraging generative AI to solve complex content retrieval challenges, anticipating future scaling and data volume needs.

  • Independent Execution: Utilize proven experience in defining systems and application architecture to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision, ensuring rapid and high-quality solution delivery.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) in data retrieval.

  • Experience with implementing Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Experience with implementing Vector Databases within an enterprise.

  • Experience safeguarding confidential information.

  • Experience working with the government sector.

  • Ability to lead a team.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Strong influence, collaboration, and negotiation experience.

  • Ability to collaborate across business and functional lines.
