Job Title: Cloud Ops Engineer
Location: Hybrid Richmond, VA (3 days onsite required)
Duration: 12 Months
Type: W2 Contract Only

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Ops Engineer to join our team supporting Azure production environments. This is a hybrid role based in Richmond, VA, requiring onsite presence 3 days a week. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Azure infrastructure, supporting mission-critical applications, and contributing to automation and cost optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for Azure Production support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and outages

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions

  • Provide advanced support for Azure Databricks and AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)

  • Monitor and manage Kubernetes infrastructure and system logs

  • Optimize Azure infrastructure for performance, security, and reliability

  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions

  • Perform capacity planning and drive FinOps practices for cost optimization

  • Automate routine tasks and enable self-healing systems

  • Enforce and maintain security controls and ensure compliance

  • Collaborate with development teams for improved application performance and scalability

  • Assist in the design and implementation of new Azure-based solutions

  • Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Bash, and PowerShell

  • Document system architectures and operational processes

  • Mentor junior team members and foster a knowledge-sharing culture

  • Stay updated on the latest Azure features and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Azure services, particularly AKS and Databricks

  • Proficient in scripting with Bash and PowerShell

  • Experienced in writing and maintaining Terraform scripts

  • Familiar with Azure security, monitoring, and compliance best practices

  • Solid understanding of FinOps and cost management strategies

  • Proven experience in incident management, system performance tuning, and automation

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

  • Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)

  • Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
