Sr. AWS & Application Virtualization Engineer/Architect
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in AWS Workspaces, application virtualization (e.g., Island.io), and endpoint management across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate has 12+ years of IT infrastructure experience, thrives in fast-paced seasonal operations, and excels at troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a remote role with flexible time zone coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS Workspaces environments at scale for remote and hybrid teams
- Oversee application virtualization platforms such as Island.io for secure browser delivery
- Lead onboarding efforts for large seasonal workforces (e.g., 5,000+ users), ensuring smooth provisioning and access
- Resolve infrastructure escalations within SLA, with emphasis on documentation and knowledge transfer
- Collaborate with InfoSec and operations teams to ensure endpoint compliance and security
- Author and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles for infrastructure processes
- Implement automation via PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline provisioning and support workflows
- Monitor infrastructure via tools like ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and endpoint platforms (e.g., Intune, JAMF, SCCM)
Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years of professional experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering
- Proven experience managing AWS Workspaces and VDI/cloud desktop environments
- Hands-on with Island.io or similar secure browser technologies
- Proficiency in endpoint management using Intune, JAMF, and/or SCCM
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoint administration
- Excellent troubleshooting and escalation management skills
- Strong written documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and Agile/SCRUM environments
- Prior experience supporting tax season or seasonal onboarding operations
- Experience creating self-service automation tools for provisioning or diagnostics
- Understanding of DevOps principles in an enterprise setting
