Job Description:
GDH Consulting is hiring an experienced Infrastructure Cabling Engineer to join their dynamic team in Orange County. This role involves the design, installation, and maintenance of low voltage cable infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Category 5, Category 6a, and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems. This position requires a minimum of 10 years' experience in the field and is perfect for someone who excels in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design TR spaces based on building size and IT requirements, ensuring optimal layout and functionality.
  • Calculate HVAC requirements and size based on IT equipment specifications to ensure proper environmental conditions.
  • Develop electrical specifications, including UPS sizing and pathway design, tailored to the IT infrastructure needs.
  • Create detailed Statements of Work (SOWs) for backbone and horizontal cabling projects including fiber, copper, and specialty cabling.
  • Conduct comprehensive site assessments to develop schematic designs and estimation tools for project planning.
  • Lead the IT design phase, producing detailed construction documents for follow-on engineering tasks.
  • Consult and coordinate with multiple internal groups on infrastructure projects to ensure alignment and compliance with company standards.
  • Perform on-site quality inspections to ensure installations meet design specifications and industry standards.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in designing, installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems.
  • Proven track record with manufacturer-specific certifications preferred (e.g., Commscope, BICSI, Panduit, Hubbell, Corning, Leviton, AV).
  • Proficient in the use of engineering software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Solidworks.
  • Strong comprehension of terminology related to telecom, data, security, and wireless system cabling infrastructures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and innovations.
  • Availability to perform on-site inspections and attend meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with creative and practical solutions.
