Head of Software Engineering /Onsite/Chicago/Western Suburbs

This full-time, in-office Head of Engineering opportunity is based in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. The company is a fast-growing SaaS platform dedicated to transforming the restoration industry. The organization is entering a high-growth phase with plans to double the engineering team over the next year. The technology stack spans mobile (Flutter), web, and backend systems (.NET), with a focus on scalability and modernization.

This role offers a chance to drive engineering strategy at scale while working closely with an experienced founding team. The ideal candidate is someone who has grown from engineer to architect to technical leader, ready to lead platform transformation and organizational growth. You'll be empowered to build a strong engineering culture, modernize technical architecture, and shape the future of an industry-disrupting platform. Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years in software engineering
• Proven experience scaling SaaS teams from 10+ to 25+ engineers
• Experience across web, mobile (Flutter), backend (.NET), and QA teams
• Strong architecture, scalability, and system design knowledge
• Experience with engineering metrics, performance tuning, and agile delivery
• Track record of successful platform modernization and team leadership

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience at early- to mid-stage startups (Series A/B/C), ideally on a path to IPO
• Skilled in hiring, mentoring, and building leadership layers
• Strong cross-functional communicator with product and design collaboration experience
• Familiarity with DevOps, observability, and release pipeline processes
