Security clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
This is a Hybrid role, 3 days onsite.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant/Finance Specialist to join our team and lead our Accounting Operations.
Candidates will have significant, demonstrated experience in financial compliance, accounting operations, and budget planning and execution in support of a US Government contractor.
This role requires a meticulous approach to handling complex financial tasks and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards (including FAR/DFAR, GAAP, and other US Government Contracting standards).
Key Responsibilities:
Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and accounting system (Month End Close).
Managing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes accurately, on schedule, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Coordinating and ensuring Time Reports, Revenue Recognition, Cost Accounting, and Expense Reports in accordance with USG FAR guidelines and consistent with Contract Type (e.g., Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Time and Material, Firm Fixed Price).
Issuing Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Incurred Expenses versus Budgeted Expenses). Executing budget reviews quarterly, including business forecasts
Managing 401K contributions and related reporting.
Developing an annual budget and associated submissions to DCAA (e.g., provisional billing rates)
Providing accurate accounting records to tax attorneys for S or C-Corporation filings.
Required Experience:
CPA accreditation (strongly preferred in Virginia).
Deep and proven experience working for a US Government contractor across all accounting operations (e.g., AP, AR, Revenue Recognition, Incurred Cost Audits, etc )
Strong expertise in financial reconciliations, payroll processing, and expense report management.
Experience with 401K contributions and reporting.
Track record of implementing or influencing multi-discipline cost-improvement and efficiency initiatives
Skilled user of Enterprise Accounting and Payroll Tools (e.g, JAMIS, Deltek, PayChex, ADP Payroll, etc..)
Managing others (directly or indirectly)
Experience with Health Benefits accounting and administration.
Desirable Experience:
Managing and updating internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
Analyzing cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
Providing support for USG Proposals requiring financial submissions.
