An IBM Tivoli Batch Scheduler expert is responsible for leading, designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise job scheduling environments using IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS). This role requires deep technical expertise in automation, IT operations, and workload scheduling, typically across Windows, UNIX/Linux, and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-scale job scheduling systems using IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler.

  • Administer and configure TWS environments, including installation, upgrading, troubleshooting, and access management across multiple platforms.

  • Analyze and optimize batch schedules, manage scheduling objects, perform forecast analysis, and validate scheduling requests.

  • Build and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery strategies, especially within cloud or hybrid infrastructures such as AWS and Linux.

  • Automate and industrialize workflows using scripting (shell, Python), and maintain backup, logging, and performance tuning processes.

  • Lead incident management for batch scheduling, including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, ticket handling, and level 3 support.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, automated reports, and support tools for proactive performance monitoring.

  • Support integration with monitoring and ITSM tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, and others.

  • Collaborate with application teams, stakeholders, and management to align scheduling activities with business needs.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience (8 10+ years) in batch processing and administration of IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (including Dynamic Workload Console, Master Domain Manager, and Agents).

  • Strong expertise with UNIX/Linux and shell scripting, plus familiarity with database technologies such as DB2.

  • Experience in migrating, designing, installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining TWS environments.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting complex scheduler failures, job issues, and supporting high-availability setups.

  • Hands-on experience with automation, DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible), and infrastructure/integration monitoring solutions.

  • Good communication, leadership, and project management skills; ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

  • IBM Tivoli Certification and ITIL knowledge are highly desirable.
