Position: WCS Architect
Duration: 12+ months contract
Location: Springfield, MO (Hybrid 3 days onsite a week)
JOB DESCRIPTION
SKILLS NEEDED : HTML/HTML5, J2EE, Java, JavaScript, Software Engineering and Design Architecture, Apache Struts, HCL Commerce, Java Server Pages (JSP) /Servlets, MySQL, MS SQL
The WCS Architect will lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance ecommerce solutions using IBM WebSphere Commerce This role requires deep technical expertise in WCS strong architectural acumen and experience working with largescale retail clients
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end to end architecture for WCS based ecommerce platforms
- Collaborate with business stakeholders product managers and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Lead technical design sessions code reviews and performance tuning initiatives
- Provide guidance on WCS customization integration and deployment strategies
- Ensure adherence to best practices in security scalability and maintainability
- Mentor development teams and support client technical discussions
Required Skills Experience
- 12 years of experience in enterprise Java development with at least 5 years in WCS v7 or v8
- Strong understanding of WCS subsystems Catalog Order Member Promotions and Search
- Experience with RESTful APIs microservices architecture and cloudnative deployments
- Proficiency in DevOps tools and CICD pipelines
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with North American retail clients
- Experience with HCL Commerce post-IBM acquisition
- Exposure to adjacent technologies like Adobe AEM, ReactJS and AzureAWS
- Prior experience in hybrid or on-site client engagements
