Neos is Seeking a SharePoint Online Migration Administrator for a contract role for with our client in Austin, TX.

***HYRBIRD - ONLY CANDIDATES CURRENTLY RESIDING IN THE AUSTIN AREA WILL BE CONSIDERED***

This is a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office at 200 E. 18th St, Austin, Texas 78701. The specific in-office days will be determined in coordination with your manager.

Position Overview

The SharePoint Online Migration Administrator will plan, execute, and oversee the transfer of content, data, and workflows from an existing SharePoint 2016 (on-premise) environment to SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 platforms. This role requires both strong technical expertise and effective communication skills to ensure a seamless migration process with minimal disruption.

Roles and Responsibilities

Planning and Analysis

  • Assess current SharePoint data landscape, including reports on existing content, usage, and permissions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, document processes, and identify migration needs.
  • Analyze legacy workflows, customizations, and integrations to determine appropriate migration strategies.
  • Develop and document detailed migration plans covering information architecture, taxonomy, timelines, and testing.

Execution

  • Execute migrations using tools such as Microsoft's SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) or Metalogix.
  • Perform content, site, list, and file migrations to SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Provision new sites and configure permissions and administrative settings as required.

Quality Assurance and Remediation

  • Run post-migration reports to verify successful transfers and identify any errors.
  • Conduct QA and UAT testing to ensure data integrity and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate issues in collaboration with technical teams and site owners.

User Support and Governance

  • Develop user training materials and guides for the new SharePoint Online environment.
  • Provide end-user support and training to promote smooth adoption.
  • Contribute to SharePoint Online governance models, defining guidelines and best practices.
  • Guide site owners in data cleansing and content preparation before migration.
  • Manage access controls, permissions, and document libraries.
  • Support disaster recovery and enterprise hardware/software standards as related to SharePoint.

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience in SharePoint administration, including creating and managing site collections, permissions, and features.
  • 4 years of hands-on experience with migration tools such as Metalogix or Microsoft's native tools.
  • 4 years of demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • 4 years of experience scripting for automation, especially with PowerShell.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of SharePoint administration and migration experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Extensive experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting migration-related issues.
  • Experience with data analysis/reporting tools such as Excel or Power BI.
  • Ability to conduct gap analysis, perform risk assessments, and document technical processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Professional Expectations

  • Attend all required meetings and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Be available during ERS office hours and remain active on agency Jabber during work hours.
  • Keep camera on during remote meetings unless otherwise arranged.
  • Coordinate leave and vacation with ERS lead.
  • Maintain professional dress and communication standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate flexibility, and adapt to change.
  • Take initiative in identifying and resolving problems.
