Project Manager Portfolio Operations

Basic Purpose
We are seeking a Portfolio Operations Analyst (Project Manager) to support the implementation of Lean Portfolio & Product Management (LPPM) practices within Information Security. This role is ideal for someone who has helped build portfolio operations from the ground up, not just maintained them. The analyst will connect strategy to execution by defining how epics, features, and stories align across layers, bridging gaps in tooling and governance, and laying the foundation for a sustainable Portfolio & Product Operations capability.

Key Responsibilities
Model Building & Pilot Enablement

• Stand up and refine the single-funnel backlog from intake to delivery.
• Define how portfolio epics decompose into features and stories.
• Identify and close gaps in flow, tooling, and governance.
• Support and document pilot governance events, discovery labs, and PI planning sessions.

Tooling & Traceability

• Establish traceability across ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and Apptio.
• Create initial records and tagging for cost tracking and reporting.
• Propose scalable solutions for integration and automation.

Metrics & Reporting

• Define and pilot practical measures for value, flow, and outcomes.
• Develop starter dashboards and reporting views (manual or automated).
• Refine metrics and reporting processes based on pilot learnings.

Audit & Documentation

• Maintain audit artifacts, including role rosters, decision logs, trace maps, and outcome registers.
• Partner with risk and compliance teams to embed audit readiness into operations.

Path to Sustainable Operations

• Shape templates, standards, and repeatable processes for backlog management, governance, and reporting.
• Transition pilot/manual practices into sustainable operating routines.
• Contribute to playbooks, roadmaps, and continuous improvement recommendations for future scaling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in lean portfolio management, product operations, product management, or program management.
• Proven success implementing or maturing LPM, SAFe, or disciplined agile models.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and Apptio (or equivalent tools).
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Background in security, risk, or technology portfolios strongly preferred.
