Client Technologies Administrator
Onsite | New Haven, CT
Experience Required: 4+ years in IT support with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Client Technologies Administrator to support the research and academic computing needs of our community. In this highly collaborative role, you'll lead technology initiatives, provide expert-level support, and help advance the computing environment for world-class scientific and educational work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, install, and maintain hardware, software, and network systems across labs and departments
  • Deliver high-level customer support including consulting, installation, training, troubleshooting, and user guidance
  • Lead and support medium-scale projects, from needs assessment to solution delivery
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for junior staff, faculty, and students
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, processes, and user training materials
  • Collaborate with vendors and software owners to plan and deploy technology solutions securely
  • Provide hands-on support for scientific tools, specialty hardware, and computationally intensive environments

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in supporting diverse platforms including macOS, Windows, and Linux environments
  • Experience with software and hardware relevant to scientific research (e.g. Matlab, AutoCAD, Python, PERL)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with an emphasis on user experience
  • Ability to produce clear, tailored documentation and instructional materials
  • Background in supporting users in research or university environments preferred

Nice to Haves

  • Experience leading IT projects with demonstrated outcomes
  • Familiarity with server administration (Windows or Linux)
  • Ability to train and mentor Level 1 and 2 technicians
  • Technical writing experience tailored to end-user audiences

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience
  • -OR- an equivalent combination of education and practical experience

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
